From July 22-28, 2024, the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation (MHESI) held the “อว. Fair: SCI POWER FOR FUTURE THAILAND” at the Queen Sirikit National Convention Center. This multidisciplinary event involved over 170 universities and research units, showcasing innovations in science, technology, and education through six exhibition zones. The fair aimed to elevate Thai knowledge and skills to international standards and demonstrate the country's potential in economic development.
Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn presided over the opening ceremony, accompanied by notable government officials. She visited the six main exhibition zones, each highlighting different aspects of science and innovation, such as health products, future technology, lifelong learning, and startup growth.
The event featured the "Lunar Sample from the Chang'e 5 Spacecraft" cutting-edge VR equipment, TCAS exam answers, and numerous booths displaying award-winning research-based products. Attendees could participate in seminars, workshops, and mini-concerts, and had the chance to win prizes, including electric vehicles.
At this event, the Office of Higher Education, Science, Research, and Innovation, Royal Thai Embassy, Washington D.C., USA, led by Mr. Thitidej Tularak, Minister-Counsellor, participated in the seminar “Scaling Up Success: Thailand IDE Mentoring Experience – Coach, Cash, Connect” at the “STARTUP x INNOVATION THAILAND EXPO 2024” (SITE 2024). This seminar, organized by the National Innovation Agency or NIA, took place on Tuesday, July 23, 2024 under the theme “Innovation for Growth and Sustainability.” The objective was to gather individuals interested and qualified to be mentors for innovative businesses in the country to join the network, understand the role of mentoring, financial support, and networking in the growth of startups, and share success stories and good practices from mentors and mentees.
At SITE 2024, the National Innovation Agency (NIA) and the Federation of Thai Industries (FTI) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to strengthen cooperation between the startup ecosystems of Thailand and the United States. The agreement, led by key figures including Mr. Marc Elrich and Ms. Judy Costello, Montgomery County, Maryland and Krithpaka Boonfueng, PhD, NIA, commemorates the 190th anniversary of Thai-US diplomatic relations. The MOU aims to support Thai entrepreneurs through initiatives like Montgomery County's International Soft-landing program, facilitate business expansion into the US, and promote knowledge exchange and innovation. This partnership builds on previous successful expansions of Thai companies into the US market, with support from various entities, including the Royal Thai Embassy in the US. The collaboration seeks to enhance Thai entrepreneurs' global competitiveness and strengthen international cooperation networks.
