Friend of Thai Science 2025 Award Ceremony

On January 28, 2026, the Office of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation, Royal Thai Embassy, Washington, D.C., (OHESDC) organized an honorary award ceremony for the "Friend of Thai Science 2025." The awards were presented to Prof. Dr. Methi Wecharatana and Prof. Dr. Yong Rojanasakul at the Royal Thai Embassy in Washington, D.C. The ceremony was presided over by Dr. Suriya Chindawongse, the Ambassador, with honorary counselors from various embassy offices in attendance to offer their congratulations. On this occasion, Prof. Dr. Methi Wecharatana and Prof. Dr. Yong Rojanasakul stated that this award is an honor for themselves and their families, and serves as encouragement to continue their work in supporting and developing the scientific community in Thailand.

OHESDC has presented the "Friend of Thai Science" honorary award since 2018 to recognize individuals who have made significant contributions to Thailand’s Higher Education, Science, Research, and Innovation. These recipients possess evident research achievements, outstanding expertise, or have created benefits for Thailand and humanity. This award serves to honor their achievements and boost morale. Between 2018 and 2024, OHESDC presented this award to a total of 14 individuals in the Americas: 13 from the United States and 1 from Canada. For the year 2025, OHESDC invited agencies, various associations, and the general public to nominate qualified individuals through OHESDC’s website and communication channels. The selection process was conducted according to established criteria, resulting in two selected recipients.
