On November 7, 2025, a delegation from the Quantum Technology Research Initiative Consortium (QTRic), Suranaree University of Technology, met with the Office of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation at the Royal Thai Embassy, Washington, D.C., to discuss strategies for strengthening research networks and cooperation in quantum technology between Thailand and the United States.
QTRic is a specialized organization dedicated to advancing quantum science and technology. Its strategic priorities include quantum computing, quantum communication, and quantum materials. The consortium aims to bridge academic research with industrial applications and expand opportunities for both domestic and international collaboration. It also plays a key role in supporting education and training at the graduate and postdoctoral levels to meet Thailand’s future workforce needs in the quantum technology sector.
The establishment of QTRic represents a strategic investment of Thailand in frontier science, designed to elevate Thailand’s global competitiveness, enhance international presence, and promote collaboration with universities, research institutions, and industry partners worldwide. These efforts support advancements in secure communication systems, next-generation processing technologies, and innovative materials.
During the meeting, the QTRic delegation also reviewed progress on the Quantum Shore Chicago initiative and the Illinois Quantum and Microelectronics Park (IQMP). The delegation expressed strong interest in these developments and has already begun forming partnerships with relevant U.S. stakeholders.
