Rutgers University Visit


On November 22, 2024, Mr. Thitidej Tularak, Minister-Counselor (Higher Education, Science, Research, and Innovation), Office of Higher Education, Science, Research, and Innovation the Royal Thai Embassy, Washington, D.C. (OHESDC), along with OHESDC officials, met with representatives of the School of Graduate Studies, Rutgers University, New Jersey. The meeting was led by Professor Mark Gregory Robson, Dean of the School of Graduate Studies and Associate Vice Provost for Graduate Education, along with faculty and staff from Global Affairs and Rutgers Global - Study Aboard. During the meeting, Professor Robson and his team exchanged ideas and discussed potential areas of collaboration between the Office and universities in Thailand, including the possibility of initiating staff and student exchange programs focused on STEM research projects. Mr. Thitidej also met with Thai students currently studying at the undergraduate and graduate levels at Rutgers University to learn about their experiences and gather suggestions that could benefit the government sector.

 

Professor Mark Gregory Robson has collaborated with Thai scientists in academia and government through research and teaching in Thailand for over 30 years. In recognition of his contributions to the Thai science sector, in 2010, Professor Robson was awarded an honorary doctorate by Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn at Chulalongkorn University. He has continued to provide significant support to the Thai science sector, culminating in his selection as the recipient of the Friend of Thai Science Award 2024, which will be presented in December.
